It's weird to think about, being a small business retail shop, and having absolutely no way for people to call us. But we cut the cord back shortly after we opened our doors in 2014, and we've never looked back since.
And as the sad photo we made years ago above would lead you to believe, it was mosly in fact, due to people calling trying to sell their Beanie Babies. It was either Beanie Babies or people looking to sell off their Barbie collection. And let me tell you something about 99% of those calls: they all for the most part thought they were sitting on gold, and we were responsible for making them rich.
So instead of having the same annoying conversation over and over again, we decided to cut off the main line of communication that these folks used and it worked great. We do get the random DM or email asking if we're interested in the two Big B's, but as far as a time saver, we definitely freed up a bunch of our time almost immediately .
It's not to say that there aren't some Beanie Babies that aren't worth something. It's again the misconception that folks tend to have thinking that everything they are sitting on is gold and we of course are lucky to be getting the chance to make them rich. But despite the few Error Princess Diana bears out there that might sell for quite a bit (I have no idea what if that's a thing, I'm stringing words along there)
